From simmering pots to heavenly bakes,
Their creations, a pleasure that never breaks,
With every bite, flavors burst and bloom,
Filling our spirits, chasing away gloom.
So here’s to the cooks, with gratitude true,
For making our gatherings simply sublime,
We, the young souls, appreciate your skill,

„There were people who took care of the food, which was very impressive because they could cook so deliciously for so many people. Some of us always helped with the cooking, like chopping and washing, but those who wanted to could also cook more extensively. It was quite exciting, considering that potatoes for 40 people are quite a lot. Because the cooks took turns, the meals varied a lot throughout the three weeks. I found that really nice. I live alone and usually cook every day, so it was great not having to do it for once. It actually showed me how much time household chores take during the day. Hats off to those who manage household tasks, work, and even kids all at once!
There were some interesting discussions about the food during the meals, as we decided to eat vegan during our youth gathering, for ethical and environmental reasons. For some, it was very strange that there was only vegan food. Occasionally, they went out for a döner on their day off…“
„We also cooked traditional dishes from our respective countries together during our country-themed evenings. This was an intriguing discussion even before we started, especially for our national groups: What is typical for our country? There isn’t just one answer to that! Depending on the region, family, and background, culinary traditions vary greatly. In the end, each of us prepared a dish, allowing us to introduce our personal traditions to the others. So, although there were „only“ five country-themed evenings, we had almost 40 different dishes – because the workshop leaders, cooks, and even the people from the „Altes Bahnwerk“ also cooked their traditional foods! It was wonderful and incredibly delicious!“
